About

artist | designer | scholar | educator

Experienced scholar and landscape designer with over 11 years of landscape architecture research experience with 5 of those working specifically on culturally significant historic landscapes. Skilled writer, with multiple examples of scholarly research publications as well as graphic, concept plans and feasibility studies for contemporary landscapes.  Early career experience in horticultural garden design built on foundational knowledge studying classic European (English, Italian, French), Middle Eastern, Asian, and traditional Southern gardening styles. My specialized skill set provides me with the ability to research and interpret historic landscapes, collaborate with experts in allied disciplines, and develop public-facing content, including lectures, presentations, and interpretive initiatives.

A Mississippi native with a passion for landscape and art, I hold a Bachelors of Fine Art with a Sculpture emphasis and Master of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University. My professional journey has taken me from garden design to pursuing a PhD in Architecture and Design Research at Virginia Tech and lately, pursuing my landscape architecture license in Williamsburg, Virginia. With a deep appreciation for nature and the environment, I enjoy gardening, cycling, hiking, and camping, and find joy in art by creating and facilitating projects for my school-aged girls (and as a gymnastics and Girl Scouts mom) and in pinning insects for myself.
